Signia Integrated Xperience

Signia Integrated Xperience, or IX, is built to support conversation in realistic environments. Traditional directional hearing-aid technology may work well when one person is speaking from directly in front of the wearer. Real conversations, however, rarely remain that simple. People turn their heads, move around a room, speak from different positions, and alternate rapidly during group discussions. Signia IX is designed to follow these changes in real time.

 

RealTime Conversation Enhancement

 

RealTime Conversation Enhancement analyzes the surrounding sound environment, identifies active speakers, and adapts as the conversation changes.

The system is designed to:

• Detect voices within a group

• Follow multiple conversation partners

• Enhance speech from different directions

• Respond as speakers move

• Adapt when the wearer turns their head

• Manage surrounding noise while maintaining environmental awareness

 

Signia reports that the system evaluates as many as 192,000 data points every second and updates approximately 1,000 times per second.

 

This does not mean that every word will be perfectly clear in every environment. Hearing-aid performance depends on the severity and configuration of the hearing loss, speech-discrimination ability, background noise, distance, acoustics, and professional fitting.

 

Own Voice Processing 2.0

 

One of the most common concerns among new hearing-aid wearers is that their own voice sounds loud, hollow, or unnatural.

Signia states that BCT IX can provide up to 36 hours of use on one charge, including approximately five hours of streaming, under expected conditions.

Signia CROS IX for Single-Sided Deafness

 

Signia CROS IX systems are designed for people who have little or no usable hearing in one ear.

A CROS transmitter worn on the poorer-hearing side captures sound and sends it wirelessly to a compatible hearing aid on the better-hearing side.

 

A BiCROS fitting uses the same routing system while also providing amplification for hearing loss in the better ear.

CROS and BiCROS systems may improve awareness of sounds arriving from the poorer-hearing side. They do not restore natural hearing to that ear or fully recreate normal sound localization.
